An event is an action initiated by a user-defined trigger source; it is the causal arrangement of the
following three elements: Trigger, Event Schedule, and Action.
Trigger
ThisisthecauseorstimuluswhichdeneswhentotriggertheNetworkCamera.Thetriggersourcecan
beconguredtousetheNetworkCamera’sbuiltinmotiondetectionmechanismorexternaldigitalinput
devices.
There are several choices of trigger sources as shown below.

■Videomotiondetection
This option makes use of the built-in motion detection mechanism as a trigger source. To enable this
function,youneedtocongureaMotionDetectionWindowrst.Formoreinformation,please refer to
Motion Detection on page 62 for details.
■Periodically
ThisoptionallowstheNetworkCameratotriggerperiodicallyforeveryotherdenedminute.Upto999
minutes are allowed.
■Digitalinput
ThisoptionallowstheNetworkCameratouseanexternaldigitalinputdeviceorsensorasatrigger
source. Depending on your application, there are many choices of digital input devices on the market
which helps to detect changes in temperature, vibration, sound, and light, etc.
■Systemboot
This option triggers the Network Camera when the power to the Network Camera is disconnected.
■Recordingnotify
This option allows the Network Camera to trigger when the recording disk is full or when recording
starts to rewrite older data.
